Susan Truitt Fine Art

About the Artist

Susan Truitt began following her dream of being a full-time painter in 1998. For several years Susan studied on a regular basis with Charlotte Griffin, a long-time student of master-painter William Schultz. In addition, Susan has studied in many workshops, including those of Charles Sovek, award-winning artist based in Connecticut, Albert Handell of New Mexico, and Lois Griffel, director of the Cape Cod School of Art. She has also studied with members of the prestigious Plein-Air Painters of America, Kevin MacPherson, Kenn Backhaus, Ron Rencher and Gay Faulkenberry. Additionally, she has studied on several occasions with Colorado painter, Kim English and New York painter, Gregg Kreutz. She has also on several occasions had the privilege of studying with the late William Schultz, co-founder of the American Impressionist Society.

Although Susan has worked in many different mediums, she prefers oil and most commonly works in the areas of still life and landscape. She particularly enjoys painting on location, "en plein air", traveling paint-box in hand at home and abroad, as often as possible.

Susan believes that as an artist she is fortunate to appreciate the beauty in our world. Her desire is to find the beauty in a subject, capture and convey it on canvas in such a way that the viewer will also experience and appreciate the joy and beauty she has witnessed.

Although a native Oklahoman, Susan has called Florida home for seventeen years. She lives in the Melbourne, Florida area with her husband Tim and two teenaged sons.
